During
one dinner, a child took a meat and was unable to chew it. He took it to his
mum and said,
"Mum,
can you chew this meat for me?"
The
mum took it, chewed it and then gave it to the child. Because the meat was very
tough, the child could not swallow it and then he took it again to the mum and
said,
"Can
you please swallow this meat for me; not in your own stomach but in my
stomach"
In
running the race of heaven, nobody will do it for you. You do your own and I do
my own.
Story 2: Is your light still on?
One
blind man visited a friend. When it was night, he wanted to leave for his house
but the friend told him to go with their lantern and the blind man said,
"It
is not necessary that I go with lantern because I cannot see with it and I have
my walking stick that would help me to locate my home."
The
host advised him to go with lantern so that anyone who sees him in that night
would not hit him.
The
blind man thought it wise and then collected the lantern. On his way home,
another man hit him. The blind man out of anger had wanted to hit the man with
his stick and then told him...
"are
you blind, can't you see this lantern I am carrying?"
When
the young man who hit the blind man noticed he was a blind man and he was
actually carrying lantern, he said to him..
"Sorry...
the air had blew off the light in your lantern."
Some
of us are still walking around with our lanterns off. Let us ask Jesus with the
man of Jericho in Luke 18:35-43 to give us light that we may see again. The
scripture did not tell us that Jesus later went back to Jericho. If the blind
man had listened to the crowed shunning him, he would not have had the
opportunity again.
Story 3: Enjoying sin
When
we were in the secondary school. There was a type of game we did called,
"the kill and eat"
This
is a football match that is played anyhow, it could be played twenty against
fifteen. One day while playing kill and eat, I had dislocation and I was taken
to school clinic. After some days, I started enjoying the dislocation.
The
reason was as follow:
I
was exempted from going to common labor,
I
was given special food in the refectory
I
was allowed to be late to common activities including classes.
I
was not doing my morning function and I was only doing things that I liked.
Hence,
when the dislocation had been cured, I had wanted to live still with the
bandage... This is because of the freedom I thought I had.
Some
of us are still swimming in ocean of sin and at the same time enjoying it. No,
let us come out from being a slave of sin. It is true that we all are sinners
but let us not be sinners searching for sin, rather, let us be sinners that run
away from sin, sinners who run to God.
Story 4: Allow God to give you.
One
king who loves children, decided to celebrate his birthday with children. He
called every child at his palace and decided to share groundnuts on his own. He
stood before his throne carrying a tray full of groundnut and asked every child
to come and collect as much as his/her hand could hold. As they were collecting
line by line, it reached one particular child and the child after looking at
his hand, at the king and then at the other people who were there, he decided
that the king should collect and then give him. When the king collected his
handful of groundnut, the child knowing fully that it would not accommodate in his
two hands made a bowel with his shirt, collected it and left.
The
Child receives more than every other child because he asked the king to give
him. If we should allow God to do his will, his will always be the best for us.
If we allow God to give us, he will shower his blessings like rain as he
promised in Ezekiel 34:26 that he will send his blessings like rain.
Story 5: A priest and his childhood friend
A
priest had a childhood friend. His friend was not brought up in Christian way.
As they grew up, the priest became a priest and his childhood friend became a
herbalist; a native doctor. The priest was doing well and the native doctor was
also doing well. There came a time the priest started having problems with his
bishop and he became frustrated. The native doctor was doing well, he had built
many mansions many places but he was not satisfied with that rather he had
wanted to be a free man instead. He thought of leaving that dirty job thereby
joining the priest. The priest also thought that the native doctor was in a
better position and for that he thought of meeting his friend and then joining
him without revealing his mind to anyone.
One
day, they both made up their minds to meet each to reveal their minds one in
ignorance of the other. The priest entered his car and then speed off. By
coincidence, the native doctor as well speed off and the two met and had
accident and they died.
Among the two, who will go to heaven?
Story 6: problem in a polygamous family
I
visited a polygamous family. They welcomed me very well and I asked them if
they have any problem in the family. One of them stood up and started
complaining that their problem is the other family living in the other
apartment. According to her, the other family is too dirty that even those
cloths they hung outside there are dirty even though they washed them.
When
I looked through, I saw that those cloths were dirty and I moved near the
window, used my handkerchief and cleaned the louver and I found out that it was
the their louver that was dirty not the cloths of the other family.
Story 7: Club 99
Because
of one thing you do not have, then you will not enjoy other things you have.
A
transporter was in his office counting his money and checking busses that have
not returned and the gains he had for the day around 2pm. He had a visitor and
the visitor told him that he (transporter) will be more happy if he could come
out of that club 99. The visitor asked the transporter whether he would like to
come of that club 99 and he accepted. He then took him outside his office where
his gardener was cutting flower and at the same time was singing. He told the
transporter that the gardener was happy because he does not belong to club 99.
He told the transporter that it will only take him 10,000Naira and the 10,000Naira
will be in 100Naira notes denomination. The transporter accepted.
At
night, through the advice of the visitor, they wrote a letter saying that the
money came from someone whom God had sent. They removed only one note out of it
making the remaining 99. They kept the money in front of the gardener's room
and left. When the gardener saw it, he was happy and then counted it and
thought he made mistakes and then counted it again. He called his wife and
asked her to count it, yet it was 99. He concluded that maybe that the wind had
blew one off. He used torch and searched that night yet he did not find it. That night, he did not sleep and before the
day broke, he went out to search for it again. When the gardener came to work
the next day, he changed. He did not sing as he used to do. He was no longer
happy as he is used to be. This is because he had a sleepiness night... He had
joined the CLUB 99.

When
I was small, my father use to cut some branches so that the tree could grow
much. By this, we can learn that pains can help one to grow.
If
you are a tenant and you are comfortable in your land lord's house, you will
not plan to have your own house. But if you are not in good term with your land
lord, you will have the tendency to build your own house.
Students

Story 38: Do not stay close to a girl that you do not have control of.
How
did John the Baptist die?
Can
you imagine the type of cloth the girl was wearing?
Was
the girl the only person that danced? I am sure some boys danced that day.
Sampson
the strong, what happened, just a single woman, Delilah.
If
you are loved by a woman more than you love her, be very careful. Remember the
case of Amelia in the film, "the crime of Padre Mario."
Some
Biros, Key holders etc can now video and they very cheap.
Story 39: "Sure! it appears that God wants to live alone."
One Edo pastor was preaching to his
congregation that for one to go to God, one should forgive other, one should
not gossip, one should not lie etc.
One
woman in the mist shouted, "Sure! It appears that God wants to live
alone."
Story 40: A boy, his sister and pussycat.
This
particular boy bought a catapult and for one week, he tried to kill a bird but
he could not. Just one attempt he made on their pussycat and he killed the
pussycat.
He
agreed with the sister that they should burry the cat at the back of their
compound. Their father asked for the pussycat but they claimed they know
nothing about the pussycat. The father asked them to look for it and every time
they went to look for it, they came in after playing, in the name of searching
for the pussycat.
As
the time went on, the sister started using it against the boy. Whenever it is
the time for the girl to wash plates, the sister will tell his brother to wash
it or... Pussycat.
One
day, they cooked indomie, the child liked the food but his sister told him to
say that he does not eat it. The boy accepted. the boy was restless for
sometimes and one day, he went to his father and started crying, he told him
that he was the one who killed the pussycat. The father told him that he saw
him when he killed the pussycat that he was in his room upstairs watching him.
From
that day, the boy was librated.
Story 41: Forgiveness
In
the seminary rules and regulation, once you are caught fighting, you are
expelled. One day, one seminarian in
junior class annoyed an orientation student and the student was fully charged
but he could not beat the junior one.
In
other to ovoid the fight, he kicked his foot on the ground shouting,
Seminariiiiii....
You
are helping yourself more by forgiving.
Decide
ahead that you will forgive it will be better for you.
Anger
should not be a way of life, even Jesus Christ was angry at those who were
selling in his Father's house.
Sometimes,
we may even be angry at those who may not even know.
Story 42: It is better to forgive and smile than to bear grudges and be sad.
There
was a guru, he was seen carrying two sacks, one in the front and one at the
back. He was asked why he carried the sacks and he said that once someone
annoys him, he will put it in the sack at the back and whenever he does good
things, he puts it in the sack at the front. Someone again said to him, Wow,
you are lucky ooo, people do not offend you that is why the sack at the back
seems to be very small. He responded that the sack was full that he could not
walk because it was drawing him backward, then he perforated it, and it no
longer hold. The good things he does that fills the front sack helps him to be
moving forward.
It
is better to forgive and smile than to
bear grudges and be sad.
We
always say the prayer, "forgive us our sins as we forgive those who
trespass against us."
He
who does not forgive, brakes the bridge over which he will pass.
Story 43: Forgiveness for your own sake.
There
was a man who loved his wife very well. People told that man that whenever he
travels, his wife brings boys in his home. The man did not believe it.
One
day, the man had to travel abroad for a business purpose, he missed his flight
and he only stayed for two days in Lagos before he came back. When he reached
his room, the room was locked and it was not used to locking. The man knocked
and his wife responded, "who is there?" The man told her the truth.
For some minutes, the wife came and open the door.
In
that room, only two possible place could someone hide, one is wardrobe and
second is under the bed. The man went to
his wardrobe, removed his cloth and then went and laid on his bed reading
newspaper. The wife tried as much as she could to let the husband out of the
room but could not. The wife left, prepared the lunch and then called the
husband. The husband asked her how many plates she set and she told him,
"two na, you and me." The man told her to go and set three that he
will be expecting a visitor. Immediately the wife left, the man bent down and
called the man so that they would go and eat. The man was dumbfounded and when
they reached the dining, the wife was dumbfounded also. He told the man to eat
first that had been here for long and
as such power had went out of him. After
the lunch the husband told the man to leave and never to tell anybody.
When
the man left, the husband explained that when he was lying down on his bed,
many things were going on in his mind. He thought of shooting the man at the
legs. He as well thought that if he did that, people will come to know about it
and it will affect his political future. His mother and father were still alive
and they were active Christians which means that it would affect their
reputation. They had three children and if people came to know about that, it
would create doubt whether he was the father of the children.
Story 44: Forgiveness
I
was going somewhere with a priest. When we came to a point, we became confused
on which way to follow. I gave the priest a wrong direction and as the priest
was trying to pass, he ran to another person's track. The person told the
priest, waka, waka... what are you driving self. I could imagined seeing
someone vomiting such insult on a priest of God. The priest responded to him, I
am driving Five O Fourrrrr, showing that he was not even annoyed as I thought.
Story 45: Confidence
One
family was taking their diner outside their compound. One of their children
told their father that she wants to sleep and he should take him to her room.
The father told the child to go and sleep but the child said no that she is
afraid. The father told her to go and sleep that Jesus Christ will be going
with her. When the child reached the passage to her room, it was dark and the
child said, "Jesus please do not shake, you will frighten me.
Story 46: Confidence
Another
child was sleeping with his father in his room. The father came out when the
child was still sleeping. When the child woke up, he found out that the father
was not inside and he then ran out because of fear. The father seeing him told
him to go back and sleep that the Angels of God will be sleeping with him. The
child agreed and went back to sleep again. After sometimes, the child ran out
again and said to his father,
"Daddy, the Angels are biting me."
It
was mosquito that was biting him.
Story 47: Confidence
One
priest called Latima was preaching. He noticed that the King was present and he
was preaching against the evil government administration. One voice shouted
from afar telling him,
"Latima, Latima, remember that the King
Henry is here."
He was afraid but he heard another voice in
him saying,
"Latima,
Latima, Latima, remember the King of Kings is here."
Story 48: Sufficient embarrassment
There
was a family, the wife is a Christian and the husband does not go to any
church. One day, the husband bought a motor cycle. He took it to "junction
beer parlor" where they would celebrate it. After drinking wine that
night, the man became the last to go home and because he was drunk, he left his
motor cycle at the junction. In the next morning he started searching for his
motor cycle at home. The wife reminded him that he went out with the motor
cycle and she did not hear the sound when he came back, probably, he had left
it where he went the day before. It was that time that the man remembered that
he left it at junction. The man rushed and luckily to him, the motor cycle was
there. The man came back rejoicing and her wife used that opportunity to
initiate him to church. The man accepted that he will go for thanksgiving and
at the same time he will start going to church. They went to church the next
Sunday, went for thanksgiving and he was initiated. After mass, the husband and
wife called the priest to come and bless their new motor cycle. The priest went
and brought the holy water, on reaching the place the motor cycle was packed,
the motor cycle was nowhere to be found.
A motor cycle that survived beer parlor could not
survive church

God answers prayer in three ways
1.
God may say yes
2.
God may say no
3.
God may say wait a while

fully.
Story 49: Prayer
One
man prayed to God to let him wake up very early in order to follow the first
bus. Unfortunately for him, he woke up very late. He was annoyed with God and
even to himself. It was later that he discovered that it was the same bus he
had wanted to follow that had an accident and everyone who was in the bus died.
Some
prayer intention we had as children are not what we pray for now. What if God
had answered it?
God
answers prayer in His own ways.
Let
us always pray, "Thy will be done"
Story 50: Prayer
A
woman was praying for her sick daughter and as she prayed,
"Lord
thy will be done, Lord thy will be done, Lord thy will be done, Lord thy will
be done"
The
eyes of her daughter started turning into pure white then the woman started
shouting,
"Jesus,
if this is your will let it not happen"
When
you are in dear need, God will not abandon you.
Some
of us test God instead of praying.
Story 51: Testing God in Prayer
One
Pastor told his congregation that he will pray and the lion will join in the
prayer. One of his members requested that they could go to zoo to pray so that
when people sees that, their member will increase. When they went to the zoo,
the attendants asked the pastor to pray outside but pastor insisted in going
inside. They helped only the pastor to enter the lion's den and as pastor
shifted one side to pray, the lion also shifted one side to say prayer over the
meal before devouring the pastor.
Story 52: Testing God in Prayer
Two
people were going morning mass very early in the morning and at the same time
saying their Rosary. They saw a lion before them. One of them suggest that they
should go back that God had answered their prayer but the other one said,
"No that is not a sign of faith."
Among
the two, which do you think has faith?
Story 53: Trust in God.
In
Anambra State, a priest was caught by armed robbers. The armed robbers brought
acid and asked the priest that he should choose between drinking the acid and
preaching against them in the church. The rate out which the armed robbers
operate that time was alarming and every time, the priest always preach against
that. They gave the priest the acid, the priest collected it, blessed it and
drank it and nothing happened to him.
Which posture is the best for praying?
The
posture is not necessary. What is necessary is the sincerity in prayer.
One
group discussed about it and one of them said that the greatest prayer he had
said was when his head was downward. He was falling from an electric pole.
Prayer
do change the person saying the prayer.
Story 54: Ask God in prayers.
A
little boy was trying to shift a big stone from the frontage of their room. The
father was watching him as the boy was trying to remove it. The boy could not
shift the stone and he ran to his father to complain. His father asked whether
he had used his available strength but the child said yes. The father told him
"no" that he had not. The boy went back to try again but yet could
not shift it. He went back to his father and his father told him that he had
not asked him to do it. The father stood up, went and removed it.

work.

over ran the other, went into the bus and closed the door. The second person
started laughing uncontrollably. When Okada people went to inquire whether he
was a mad man, he told them that he visited that man that entered the bus that the

request for something that God will do it for him. The voice told him that
anything he would request for, God will do it double for his neighbor. The man

"If
I tell him I need car, he would do it twice for my neighbor. If I tell him I
need a mansion, he would do it double for my neighbor." The man thought.
The
next day he went and told the voice to make his one eye blind.
